Quick answer
Hyperliquid is an on-chain order-book exchange for perpetuals and spot. Its /info endpoint serves market and account data with no key; trading goes to /exchange and every action must be signed by a wallet (ideally an approved API “agent” wallet). REST is limited to 1,200 weight per minute per IP, with up to 10 WebSocket connections and 1,000 subscriptions.

Agent wallets instead of API keys
Generate an API wallet in the Hyperliquid app and approve it for your account. Your bot signs actions with that agent key, which can trade but cannot withdraw. Address-level action limits also apply based on your trading volume.
Build a Hyperliquid strategy with AlgoGP
AlgoGP does not connect to Hyperliquid natively yet. Hyperliquid requires asymmetric or wallet signatures (JWT, RSA-PSS or EIP-712) that the standard-library Python AlgoGP exports cannot produce without an extra library.

Design and backtest in AlgoGP
Describe the strategy to the copilot and backtest it on years of normalized history. The result does not depend on any vendor.
- 2
Export the Python project
Every project exports
strategy.py,market_data.py,brokers.pyandlive.py. The strategy only sees bars, cash, positions and orders, never a vendor’s wire format. - 3
Plug in Hyperliquid
Implement the four adapter methods (
account,positions,submit_market_orderand a candle fetcher) with Hyperliquid’s SDK, or keep a built-in platform for paper trading and add Hyperliquid when you go live.
Built-in brokers for the same markets: Alpaca, Binance, Kraken, Bybit.
Hyperliquid API: frequently asked questions
Does Hyperliquid have an API key?
It uses API (agent) wallets: a separate private key approved to trade for your account.
Is Hyperliquid market data free?
Yes, /info requests need no authentication within the rate limits.
Can I trade Hyperliquid with plain HTTP and HMAC?
No; actions require wallet signatures, which the official SDKs implement.
Design and backtest your Hyperliquid strategy first
AlgoGP turns an idea into Python and tests it on years of history before you connect it to Hyperliquid. The exported code keeps the broker behind four small adapter methods.
- AI copilot writes and revises the rules
- Backtests with realistic costs
- Exported Python ready to wire to Hyperliquid
Free plan, no card required.
