Quick answer
Saxo OpenAPI is the REST and streaming API behind SaxoTraderGO, covering stocks, ETFs, options, futures, FX, CFDs and bonds. It uses OAuth 2.0; for testing, the developer portal issues a 24-hour simulation token. Default limits are 120 requests per minute per session and service group and 1 order per second per session.

Build a Saxo OpenAPI strategy with AlgoGP
AlgoGP does not connect to Saxo OpenAPI natively yet. Saxo OpenAPI authenticates with a browser OAuth login and refreshable tokens, so it needs a one-time manual login step that generated code cannot do on its own.

Design and backtest in AlgoGP
Describe the strategy to the copilot and backtest it on years of normalized history. The result does not depend on any vendor.
- 2
Export the Python project
Every project exports
strategy.py,market_data.py,brokers.pyandlive.py. The strategy only sees bars, cash, positions and orders, never a vendor’s wire format. - 3
Plug in Saxo OpenAPI
Implement the four adapter methods (
account,positions,submit_market_orderand a candle fetcher) with Saxo OpenAPI’s SDK, or keep a built-in platform for paper trading and add Saxo OpenAPI when you go live.
Built-in brokers for the same markets: Alpaca, OANDA, Tradier, OKX.
Saxo OpenAPI: frequently asked questions
Is Saxo OpenAPI free?
There is no separate API fee for clients; trading costs and market-data subscriptions apply.
Can I test Saxo OpenAPI without an account?
Yes. Create a free developer account and simulation app, and use the 24-hour token from the developer portal.
Is Saxo available in the US?
No. Saxo serves clients through entities in Europe, the UK, APAC and the Middle East, not the US.
How do I go live with a Saxo app?
Build against simulation, then apply for live access; Saxo reviews the application before live credentials work.
Design and backtest your Saxo OpenAPI strategy first
AlgoGP turns an idea into Python and tests it on years of history before you connect it to Saxo OpenAPI. The exported code keeps the broker behind four small adapter methods.
- AI copilot writes and revises the rules
- Backtests with realistic costs
- Exported Python ready to wire to Saxo OpenAPI
Free plan, no card required.
